Our Rewarding Work

The ability to help our neighbors achieve their goals and dreams and build better lives is an honor and privilege felt by everyone who works here. We celebrate what people can accomplish when they have the resources they need and the support of their community. Seeing businesses flourish, people’s pride in home ownership, and homeowners taking charge of their energy needs is incredibly satisfying. Their successes — and gratitude — inspire us to work harder and dig deeper every day.

Our Culture

Our Culture Champions committee works on initiatives and programming to build a more inclusive and relationship-based culture. It serves as a solution-based think tank; promotes new ideas, thinking, programs, and policies; proposes ideas for program and organization initiatives; and discusses leadership issues and best practices, solves problems, and supports each other’s leadership journey.

Our Social Committee provides relaxed and informal staff gatherings such as BBQs and bowling outings, helps staff plan and execute special events and celebrations, and holds internal fundraisers to offer support (e.g., Thanksgiving baskets, childcare equipment) to borrowers in need.

All staff are invited to an informal monthly Ask Me Anything meeting where they can ask our President & CEO any work-related questions and discuss timely topics in depth.

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, publishing our results, and including that information in work plans.

Our Commitment to Your Professional Success

Because the personal and professional growth of our employees are an essential part of our mission and values, we’re committed to supporting the growth and development of every member of the organization. And because each employee’s needs differ, we take an individual approach.

Each new employee is assigned a staff “Buddy” to welcome them and reduce feelings of isolation that can come with a new job and work environment. A Buddy provides informal guidance and encouragement and can answer questions about our culture or anything the new hire wants to discuss casually.

Our Success Dialogues reinforce a year-round commitment to understanding and championing every employee’s development needs. Forward-looking dialogues between each employee and their manager take place each spring.

We provide group management training as well as 1:1 leadership and executive coaching opportunities for staff who wish to continue their professional development.

We assist employees in pursuing many professional opportunities, including:

  • Degrees and certifications
  • Leadership development programs
  • Conference and workshop attendance
  • Coaching and mentorship

In addition, we conduct regular trainings on topics that have included socio-economic diversity, generational diversity in the workplace, building racial equity in the workplace, and constructive dialogue/difficult conversations.

Our JEDI Committee ensures that Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion principles are embedded into the practice, policies, and procedures of each department. It advances an inclusive organizational culture, ensures progress accountability, and provides staff learning opportunities.
